Do You Know Why You Are Fat?

Introduction

If you have accepted that you are overweight, or worse obese, and are considering a course of Sibutramine, then you won’t be offended by such a stark statement as – why you are fat. We could of course have used a different title like “Are you a little overweight” or “Do you need to lose a few pounds?” etc. But the fact of the matter is that by being overweight you are, without wishing to insult you, fat. Although the main reason for that is because you eat too much there is some scientific explanation needed too.

Who is this article aimed at?

Appetite control is the key to lose weight

Appetite control is the key to lose weight

Without wishing to state the obvious this article is aimed at any adult that is overweight or obese and unable to keep to their diets in order to lose weight. The sad fact is that your appetite is simply too big meaning that the food in your diet cannot satisfy you. Help is at hand for such people as yourself in the form of the appetite suppressant Sibutramine. However, before embarking on your course of Sibutramine it might help you to understand why you are so overweight in the first place, in order to strengthen your resolve to lose the excess weight.

Fat is a muscle issue

It’s a fact that as we get older, any time after we’re 30 years old, we start to lose muscle. Unless you’re involved in a strenuous manual labor job or can spend most of the day in the gym – the amount of muscle in your body will decrease. Now then, with most of us leading relatively sedentary lives and unable to be in the gym more than a few hours a week – this loss in muscle is virtually inevitable. Losing muscle in itself isn’t an issue for your body – but the combination of your diet and losing that muscle is. Before making the next point you need to appreciate in simple terms that when exercised our bodies can convert amino acids from our food into muscle. In simple terms the reason so many of us put on weight as we grow older is not necessarily just that we eat more, but that we carry on eating the same amount  whilst our bodies are no longer manufacturing muscle to the same extent as they used to. The net result of this is the excess food we eat, instead of being used to produce muscle, is stored as fat! Amazingly, your weight could even remain the same despite your clothes feeling somewhat tight if not completely unfitting. The reason for this is that fat takes up nearly 20% more ‘space’ in your body than muscle – so even if you’re not technically above your ‘proper’ weight you will certainly look obese. Controlling your appetite is the key to controlling you’re ever increasing waistline, which is probably why you’re now reading about appetite suppressants and Sibutramine.

The glycogen problem

Two things you have to control in a diet if you’re obese, or even just overweight, are your intake of fats and carbohydrates. Unfortunately both of these food types are what make us feel ‘satisfied’ or full after eating, so any reduction is them inevitably makes us feel still hungry. Many people mistakenly think that by reducing the amount of fat in their diet will be the key to weight loss success. Reducing the fat in your diet is important but if you don’t also reduce the carbohydrates in your diet too – then you will not lose the amount of weight you need to. The reason for this is that your body stores carbohydrates in your body, actually in your muscle tissue, as a substance called glycogen. The problem with glycogen is that it in turn is a store for sugars in your body. Which is fine – if you’re doing a lot of exercise and ‘burning off’ those energy providing sugars. However, as an overweight or obese person you’re probably not in the habit of exercising, let alone exercising vigorously. The net result of which is that rather than your body burning off the sugars made by the carbohydrates and then burning your stores of fat for more energy, it doesn’t even use up all of the sugars to produce your body energy. Subsequently it never gets round to burning off your store of fat to provide extra energy – and your stores of fat never get the chance to decrease. This is why limiting your intake of carbohydrates as well as fat is so important. You must suppress your appetite in order to reduce your consumption of these foods that are making you gain more and more weight. So, if you can’t do that by yourself then ask your medical advisor about a course of the appetite suppressant Sibutramine to help you lose weight.
